Love it also because it is succinct. It is so relevant to my devotional service "Karuna Care" interfaith chaplaincy. Looking forward to more essays as you engage with the best from other traditions, Maharaj. DK
Hare Krishna Maharaj - Dandavat Pranams, thank you for this article of such an important topic. Would it be right approach to be "open" for discussion, appreciating or even taking some learning from other paths BUT to "perceive" it through the lens of our own siddanta ? that we do not compromise Or make changes to our philosophy, in the process of appreciating other traditions, best practices... ? In my humble understanding, the superiority is not so much in comparison with other paths, but it is the "best path" that suits my own self - that I chose to look at the world and lead the life in that way...
When I was around 6/7 years old, I returned from a Girl Guide’s Sunday School. I asked my Papa, ‘should I still go because they are teaching us about Jesus?’ My Father, replied, ‘Yes definitely, there is truth and goodness in all the faiths.’ Thu, I have embraced all faiths and places of worship, hence my network of friends and experiences have been enriching. At the heart my faith is Sri Krishna.
There is no competition, just the purity of the absolute truth in many forms like the rays of the sun.
Thank you for writing about this topic. I have friends of some faiths that will not enter a temple due to their beliefs.
Thank you so much Maharaj for your message of understanding, respect and love.
Raised Christian, nurtured by Hinduism, temporarily by Sufism; and by Krishna's Mercy I've now found my spiritual home in Gaudiya Vaishnavism. This journey has allowed me to connect with people from various faiths/traditions, and I've found that when sincere believers recognize and respect each other, it creates a beautiful space for mutual sharing and glorification of the same God we all believe in. And this does not have to diminish the conviction of our own path.
Respect and recognition of others coexist with Love, and nurture it. Borders in the heart hold back the cultivation of Love.
Maybe bringing the best of myself can be to think and act in a way that fosters love and connection?
Tamal Krishna Goswami mentions in his
book "Reason & Belief" : "Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada wished to assure all who read his Gita translation that it was not a sectarian message, but the science of loving God. One might be a Hindu in this life, a Christian in the next, or a Muslim in the past, but in all cases, one is a servant of God. To explain the details of that service is the purpose of religion, the rules and prohibitions the means, love of God the end".
If Love of God is the end, I think God must be pleased if people who worship and serve Him in different ways can respect, recognize, relate and rejoice in each other's devotion.
Thank you so much for sharing each week these deep, inspiring and thought-provoking reflections!
If only the whole world had this view, the world would be a different place full of love!Only a beautiful mind will have this kind of perception!!HARE KRISHNA
